Technical Job Roles

Another important sector in the media industry is the technical job roles. there is a range of technical jobs and these jobs tend to be more practical and hands on working with equipment. A person who works in the technical field needs to have skills in precision and a professional qualification in the area they are working. An example of a technical job in the media industry is a lighting technician this job involves setting up and controlling the lighting in theatres/music venues or in television and film productions . lighting technicians work with other people, for example,  for live venues they will work with the lighting designer ans the master electrician and in film and television they will work with the cinematographer and gaffer, this means that a lighting technician must be able to work in a team and be able listen and take direction in their line of work these skills would be useful. A sound engineer is also counted as a technical job as it requires specialist skills with the use of the machinery and equipment to record, mix and reproduction of sound. An audio engineer can work in different aspects of the media such as in music, television and film. An audio egineer is responsible for recording sound and other audio production. A sound engineer works with a record producer or director however often on smaller projects and studios the producer is normally also the sound engineer making artistic and technical decisions and also managing the schedule and budget.  A camera operator is also a technical job in the media sector a cameraman is a professional operator of a film or video camera. there are many different names for a camera operator depending on what technology is being used for example in film making the lead camera man would be know as the cinematographer, or in television they are basically known as a video camera operator or a videographer each involve using and operating a professional video camera. A cameraman is responsible for operating the camera and maintain the correct camera angles throughout the shot or scene. The camera operator will work closely with the rest of the film crew mainly the director and must be able to listen a take direction well.
From looking into a few jobs from the technical sector we can see that these jobs require skills in working in a team, a good listening and attention span and being able to take direction, as well as being skilled in using the technical machinery for the particular job.
